Overseas or non-English speaking students between the ages of 14 and 18 who have satisfactority language proficiency – IELTS overall score of 3.0 or equivalent.

We are committed to assisting our students in smoothly transitioning into leading Australian public and private high schools on completion of the EHSP program.  Through our close relationships with schools, agents and other educational organisations, Ashton English can support the placement of students in prestigious schools. Please contact the international office for further information.

The course is modular and covers areas such as reading, writing, English language, maths and the study of Australian texts at three proficiency levels.

The core materials used in the delivery of the English language component of Ashton College’s High School Preparation English Course (EHSP) are the Face2Face series of books published by Cambridge University Press. Students will participate in learning and assessment activities for a total 20 hours face to face delivery per week with additional 5 hours of self-paced and independent learning.

These include written tests, essays, oral presentations, reading tests, listening tests, and observation checklists.

Ashton English is a friendly and secure place for students to study. Every student is valued as an individual and our staff are dedicated to meeting their academic needs and personal welfare requirements. Students are encouraged to use English throughout the entire day while at school. Academic and social activities will be supervised and a formal report will be sent to parents and/or guardians after each level. Parents and guardians are welcome to contact administration office for their child’s most up to date progress report at any stage of the program.

I have 25 years professional experience in the English Language Teaching industry and have worked with international students in Melbourne’s finest secondary and tertiary institutions. As the Academic Director at Ashton English, I lead an ELICOS department of professional and fully qualified teachers who are committed to achieving successful outcomes for their students.

Carmela DiazEnglish Teacher
Has experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in an ELICOS setting. As a teacher and tutor in the Victorian Secondary School system she has worked with EAL students aged 13-18.
